Centre transfers two flagship programmes to states

Two flagship programmes of the Centre, implemented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, has been transferred to States from the next fiscal, Lok Sabha was informed today.

In his written reply, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Nihal Chand said Backward Regions Grants Fund and Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikaran Abhiyan (except the component of National Plan of Technical Assistance) have been transferred to the States from 2015-16.

Responding to another question, the Minister said the 14th Finance Commission has recommended devolution of grants to the tune of Rs 2,00,292 crore to gram panchayats for the award period 2015-20 to ensure stable flow of resources at regular intervals.
