Shanta Kumar, BJP national vice-president and Punjab in-charge accused the Centre of ignoring agricultural issues leading to reduced food production in the country.

He was speaking at the two-day Kisan Morcha national executive meeting here today.

Om Prakash Dhankar, national president of Kisan Morcha said four major issues would be discussed during the conference, including weak and deficit monsoon and crops getting damaged due to flood and drought.

Apart from this, the issue of union government's plan to surrender control over the prices of fertilizers and its repercussion in farming community and implementing better risk management system will also be discussed.

He said a national agitation would be planned to create awareness about these issues.

The governments of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have given great relief to their farming communities by offering them interest free agriculture loans, he said, adding, Punjab and Haryana should also adopt the same strategy in the larger interest of its farmers.
