Centre urged to include Puducherry under Swadesh Darshan

Puducherry government today urged the Centre to include Puducherry under the new tourist projects of PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) and Swadesh Darshan of the Union Tourism Ministry.

A release from Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu said here today that the Minister had called on the Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma in Delhi today and sought sufficient allocation of funds for Puducherry to implement the various tourism development projects in the Union Territory.

The Puducherry government also placed before the Central Minister its pleas for inclusion of Puducherry, Manapet and Tirunallar (in Karaikal) under Swadesh Dharshan.
 

Inclusion of the Sengazhuneer Amman temple in Veerampattinam coastal village here, the Tirukameeswarar temple in Villianoor and Sri Moolanathar temple (all these are very ancient shrines) in the PRASAD project was also sourght.

Rajavelu and officials of the Puducherry tourism department participated in the deliberations in Delhi today on the 'Draft National Tourism Policy 2015' and placed before the Centre the various suggestions and inclusion of PUducherry in the two centrally sponsored projects.
