The implementation of the Rural Development ministry's Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana in Uttar Pradesh has come under a cloud following allegations of embezzlement of funds meant for construction of rural roads.
On receiving complaints of misappropriation of PMGSY funds, the Centre has asked the Samajwadi Party government in the state to get a CBI probe conducted into the allegations, official sources said.
The allegations of corruption pertain to the amount sanctioned for construction of roads in some of the village areas in the Sultanpur district, the sources said.

The funds for the scheme are provided and monitored by the central government, but the state government plays a role in the implementation of the PMGSY scheme.
