Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot today said the Centre will mitigate the practical difficulties in the execution of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the interest of consumers and businessmen.
"Teething (practical) problems do arise in a new system (in vogue) but we don't, at all, want consumers and businessmen to face problems due to GST. So, the practical problems in the GST (execution) will be redressed," Gehlot told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
He said that businessmen working with maintaining ledgers with old (hand written) system were facing problems to switch over to digital mode to file returns. "This problem will be mitigated," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley themselves have assured that different problems faced in the GST will be mitigated, Gehlot added.
