Promising all support, Union Minister Mansukh L Mandaviya today said the Centre would not allow the public sector Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) to die.

The Minister of State for Shipping, Chemicals and Fertilisers made this statement during his visit to FACT premises at Aluva near here.

"FACT is one of the oldest institutions in the country. The Union government will not allow it to die," he said, addressing senior management officers at Udyogamandal.

"The most important thing is to find out the reasons behind the current state of affairs. Consequently, chart out an action plan to earn more profit," he told the FACT management.

He said the current government at the Centre is pro-industry and ministers and officers are ready to help any time.

Citing examples of two public sector units, including Gujarat Power Corporation, which were making losses but later turned around, he asked employees to be more dedicated and committed.

The minister also asked them to hold monthly meetings and send him the details.

FACT Chairman and Managing Director A B Khare made a presentation which threw light on the problems faced by the company. He also apprised the minister of the current revival plan and sought his support, a FACT release said here.

Chief General Managers and general managers from various divisions of the company attended the meeting.
