Financial services firm Centrum today announced launch of its maiden Rs 500-crore private equity fund, Kalpavriksh, which will invest in mid-sized unlisted companies.

The fund has a life of 5 years with a 2-year extension and will focus on investing in the Indian consumption growth story, the Centrum said in a statement.

The fund, it added, will invest in mid-sized, unlisted companies with a growth potential in fintech, education technology, healthcare and FMCG sectors.

"There is an increased appetite from domestic HNIs to be part of sophisticated investment vehicles such as private equity funds. The sectors that we are focusing on are purely demand driven and have a potential of growing multi-fold over the next 4-5 years," said Jaspal Bindra, Chairman, Centrum Group.

Centrum further said it also has a partnership with India Property Advisors (IPAL), a real estate private equity fund.
