The CEO's office today received a report from the district magistrate of Birbhum on the alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct by BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Birbhum Joy Banerjee.
"The report will be forwarded to the Election Commission for necessary steps," EC's OSD in-charge of expenditure in West Bengal Amit Roy Chowdhury said.
Accusing the BJP candidate of violating the Model Code, the ruling Trinamool Congress demanded an immediate action by the EC against him.

"What happened is against the customs of Bengal. It is a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. We have already lodged a complaint with the EC. We want the EC to take strong action," Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy said.
Banerjee was yesterday accused of bribing voters in his constituency during campaigning, with the TMC, Congress and CPI(M) decrying it.
Both Banerjee and the BJP have denied the allegation and termed it a malicious campaign against party candidate.
Regarding another complaint against Trinamool Congress leader Becharam Manna allegedly for making derogatory remarks against the opposition, Roy Chowdhury said that the Commission was waiting for reports from the Hooghly District Magistrate.
Speaking about other issues, Roy Chowdhury said two persons were today arrested here under Section 41 of the CrPC for carrying huge amount of cash without any valid document.
While one person was arrested under Posta police station area for carrying Rs 11.14 lakh cash, another was arrested under Jorasanko area with Rs 8.91 lakh cash, Roy Chowdhury said, adding that the instances amounted to gross violation of the Model Code.
