Chace Crawford joins 'Boom'

Actor Chace Crawford is heading back to TV as ABC has cast him as the lead of its upcoming pilot "Boom".

The part will mark his first leading role on the small screen since The CW"s hit series "Gossip Girl" ended back in 2012, reported Deadline.

Produced by Tony Krantz, written by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne, and directed by Jonas Pate, "Boom" revolves its story around "the biggest oil discovery in American history which has triggered a geopolitical shift and an economic boom in North Dakota on a scale not seen since the 1849 California Gold Rush."

Crawford will be playing the role of Billy, who alongside his partner Kelly, has an "epic pligrimage" to the oil fields of the Bakken "seeking their fortune and a better life.
