Punjabi singer-actor Jassi Gill, who is making his Hindi film debut with "Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi", believes it is hard to find one's footing in a competitive industry like Bollywood.
"There is a challenge. It takes time to find one's footing in a new industry. There is a lot of competition in Bollywood and today if people know Diljit Dosanjh, an actor-singer from Punjab, then it is really good," he told PTI.
Dosanjh, who like Jassi started as a singer-actor, has become popular in Bollywood with the success of films such as "Udta Punjab" and "Soorma".
Jassi says Dosanjh's Bollywood journey is inspiring.
"I respect him. He is making a name for himself. He is a sardar, representing Punjab industry, he came here and did it all. That's an achievement."
Before "Happy..." there were other Bollywood offers for Jassi but the actor says they were not that good.
"I felt I couldn't do justice to the work that came my way earlier. I was getting cameo roles, I don't have issues doing it but if I am entering a new film industry, I should do roles where I am noticeable. I felt 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' was apt for me."
Jassi has seen the first part - "Happy Bhag Jayegi" and insists the sequel is more entertaining.
"It is my debut film here and the story was good, the star cast was amazing, there was no reason for me to let go of it."
Jassi is pinning his hopes on the Aanand L Rai produced film, which releases on August 24. The film also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Diana Penty, Jimmy Shergill.
"This film is the best opportunity for me to show my talent. I am hoping I get good offers post this film. I have done my best, the rest depends on destiny and how it is marketed and its business," he says.
