The water level in Chambal river has crossed the danger mark and is flowing at 134.7m, prompting the district administration to make arrangements to tackle any flood-like situation in at least 40 villages.

The danger mark is at 129.79m. The water level in the river has increased on the back of heavy rainfall and release of water from Kota barrage, said Collector Kumar Pal Gautam.

He said that safety directions have been issued for vehicles using the Chambal bridge and added that it would be closed to vehicular traffic if the water level rose above 137m.
