Champaran Humsafar Express will benefit 33 parliamentary constituencies

The Champaran Humsafar Express which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here today will be benefitting thirty-three parliamentary constituencies.

It will facilitate faster, safer and comfortable journey experience to common man of North Bihar. The train will run bi-weekly - Tuesdays and Fridays -- covering a distance of 1,383 km, according to an official statement.

The new train is the third named after the historic Champaran region in Bihar from where Mahatma Gandhi started his non-violent movement 'Champaran Satyagrah' against the British. The other two trains are the Champaran Express and the Champaran Satyagraha.

"I am getting this opportunity to start a new train on the occasion of 100 years of the Champaran Satyagraha. This train has been specially named Champaran Humsafar Express. Complete with modern amenities, this train will make travelling between Bihar and Delhi extremely easy and comfortable," the PM said while flagging of the train from Motihari station in West Champaran district.

 

The train service will directly and indirectly benefit 33 parliamentary constituency and have 16 stoppages including -- Katihar, Purnea, Dauram Madhepura, Saharsa, Khagaria, Samastipur, Muzzafarpur, Betiah, Narkatiaganj, Kaptanganj, Gorakhpur, Naugarh, Balrampur, Gonda, Lucknow and Kanpur Central.

The train has three tier AC coaches, GPS based LED display system for giving information on stations, train speed and adequate mobile, laptop charging points.

It also has disable friendly integrated Braille displays.

The train has plush interiors and comfortable cushion seats with curtains in each compartment. Each coach has a small pantry unit equipped with tea, coffee vending machine, hot box and refrigerator.

The toilets in the train also have baby nappy changing pads.
