Chana prices were down by 0.71 per cent to Rs 3,207 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, triggered by subdued demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in January next year fell by Rs 23, or 0.71 per cent to Rs 3,207 per quintal with an open interest of 40,150 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in December contracts traded lower by Rs 14, or 0.93 per cent to Rs 3.179 per quintal in 78.410 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators amid weak demand at spot markets mainly led to the decline in chana prices at futures trade.
