Chana prices slipped 2.78 per cent to Rs 3,877 per quintal in futures trade today as participants reduced exposure following subdued demand in the spot market.

Profit-booking at higher levels also weighed on the sentiment.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in far-month April contract declined by Rs 111, or 2.78 per cent, to trade at Rs 3,877 per quintal, with an open interest of 47,340 lots.

The commodity for delivery in March fell Rs 110, or 2.77 per cent, to trade at Rs 3,853 per quintal, with an open interest of 77,940 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in chana futures to offloading of positions by traders, taking negative leads from physical markets due to tepid demand against sufficient stocks position.
