Extending previous losses, chana prices tumbled further by 2.16 per cent to Rs 4,796 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators engaged in reducing their bets, triggered by a fall in demand against adequate stocks position.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January next year plunged by Rs 106, or 2.16 per cent to Rs 4,796 per quintal with an open interest of 15,220 lots.
On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in April contracts moved down by Rs 70, or 1.56 per cent to Rs 4,410 per quintal in 17,020 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in chana prices at futures trade to drop in demand against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts following the government measures to check prices.
