Chana down by 0.3% on low demand

Participants indulged in reducing positions amid low demand in the spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana prices declined further by 0.32% to Rs 3,469 per quintal in futures trading today as participants indulged in reducing positions amid low demand in the spot market.

However, expectations of lower output limited the fall.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in January fell further by Rs 11, or 0.32% to Rs 3,469 per quintal with open interest of 55,880 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in February contract traded lower by Rs 6, or 0.17% to Rs 3,523 per quintal in 75,020 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators due to sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly weighed on chana prices at futures trade.
