Speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana prices moved down by 0.93% to Rs 3,392 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels.

However, expectation of lower output, capped the fall.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in February month fell by Rs 32, or 0.93% to Rs 3,392 per quintal with an open interest of 1,05,510 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April contract eased by Rs 17, or 0.48% to Rs 3,544 per quintal in 48,700 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit-bookings by speculators, fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly pulled down chana prices at futures trade.
