Chana down 1.6% on profit booking

Fall in demand at spot market and govt measures to curb rising prices influenced price of the commodity

Chana sheds 1.7% in mandis after Sebi's suspension order

Amid profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels, chana prices drifted lower by 1.60% to Rs 8,670 per quintal in futures market today.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in July month dropped by Rs 141, or 1.60% to Rs 8,670 per quintal with an open interest of 1,410 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit-booking by participants at existing levels, fall in demand at spot market at prevailing levels along with government measures to curb rising prices mainly influenced chana prices at futures trade.
