Commodity for delivery in June contracts was trading higher by 0.28%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana prices rose 0.37 per cent to Rs 4,859 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions taking positive cues from spot market on upsurge in demand.

Besides, lower estimated output from the major producing belts due to unseasonal rains in key growing regions supported the upside.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in July month edged higher by Rs 18, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 4,859 per quintal with an open interest of 1,56,940 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in June contracts was trading higher by Rs 13, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 4,723 per quintal in 78,390 lots.

Analysts said apart from pick up in demand in the spot markets, reports of lower output this year mainly influenced chana prices at futures trade.
