Chana prices rose 0.82 per cent to Rs 2,960 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created positions amid pick-up in demand in the spot market.

Besides, restricted arrivals from producing regions supported the uptrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in September moved up by Rs 24, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 2,960 per quintal with an open interest of 64,240 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in August traded higher by Rs 18, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 2,874 per quintal in 1,43,320 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators after demand picked up in the spot market led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
