Chana prices went up by 0.86 per cent to Rs 4,781 per quintal in futures trade today as participants enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on surging demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in December rose by Rs 41, or 0.86 per cent to Rs 4,781 per quintal with an open interest of 27,120 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in November contracts moved up by Rs 29, or 0.60 per cent to Rs 4,885 per quintal in 24,650 lots.

Analysts said expanding of positions by traders on the back of strong demand from dal mills in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly attributed the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
