Chana prices shot up by 1.34 per cent to Rs 5,290 per quintal in futures trade today as traders widened bets on the back of rising demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October jumped up by Rs 70, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 5,290 per quintal with an open interest of 2,630 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants following pick-up in demand in the physical market against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly attributed the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
