Chana prices were up 1.45 per cent to Rs 3,628 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in February rose by Rs 52, or 1.45 per cent to Rs 3,628 per quintal with an open interest of 45,880 lots.

The contract for delivery in January moved up by Rs 50, or 1.39 per cent to Rs 3,650 per quintal in 72,860 lots.

Analysts said apart from rising demand in the spot market, restricted arrivals from producing belts led to rise in chana futures.
