Chana prices dropped by 1.38 per cent to Rs 5,562 per quintal in futures trading today as participants trimmed their positions amid adequate stocks at spot market on improved supplies after the government measures to check rising prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in far-month June plunged by Rs 78, or 1.38 per cent to Rs 5,562 per quintal with an open interest of 17,490 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in May contracts moved down by Rs 75, or 1.36 per cent to Rs 5,445 per quintal in 7,220 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in chana futures to adequate stocks positions in the physical market on increased supplies from producing regions after the government measures to check rising prices.
