Chana prices rose by 0.69 per cent to Rs 4,837 per quintal in futures trade today as participants engaged in enlarging positions, taking positive cues from spot market on strong demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in December gained Rs 33, or 0.69 per cent to Rs 4,837 per quintal with an open interest of 25,200 lots.

On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in November contracts traded higher by Rs 20, or 0.41 per cent to Rs 4,953 per quintal in 25,110 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders due to pick-up in demand from dal mills in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
