Chana prices fell further by 2.28 per cent to Rs 4,705 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators engaged in reducing positions, triggered by ample stocks position at the spot market against tepid demand.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in November drifted lower by Rs 110, or 2.28 per cent to Rs 4,705 per quintal with an open interest of 30,180 lots.

On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 100, or 2.12 per cent to Rs 4,606 per quintal in 25,150 lots.

Marketmen said cutting down of positions by traders on the back of low demand in physical market against adequate stocks position on increased arrivals from producing belts, mainly kept chana prices down at futures trade.
