Chana prices edged up by 0.24 per cent to Rs 3,826 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in March rose by Rs 9, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 3,826 per quintal with an open interest of 81,320 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April contracts was trading higher by Rs 7, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 3,857 per quintal in 21,250 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices to fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand in the physical market.
