Chana prices moved up by 0.74 per cent to Rs 5,737 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October rose by Rs 42, or 0.74 per cent to Rs 5,737 per quintal with an open interest of 23,300 lots.
On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in November contracts gained Rs 37, or 0.65 per cent to Rs 5,757 per quintal in 26,690 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to rise in demand in the physical market amid pause in supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
