Chana prices rose by 0.88 per cent to Rs 3,308 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firm trend at spot market on rising demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January next year gained Rs 29, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 3,308 per quintal with an open interest of 83,830 lots.

In a similar fashion, the commodity for delivery in February moved up by Rs 24, or 0.72 per cent, to Rs 3,335 per quintal in 30,390 lots.

Analysts said speculators enlarged positions amid positive cues from spot market on rising demand against restricted arrivals from the major producing belts which led to rise in chana prices at futures trade.
