Amid pick up in domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing regions, chana prices rose by 1.78 per cent to Rs 3,450 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in February month moved up by Rs 62, or 1.78 per cent to Rs 3,540 per quintal with an open interest of 74,510 lots.
In a similar fashion, the commodity for delivery in January contract traded higher by Rs 41, or 1.19 per cent to Rs 3,496 per quintal in 60,340 lots.
Analysts said apart from rising demand in the spot market, restricted supplies from producing belts kept chana prices higher at futures trade.
