Chana prices were traded lower by 2.48 per cent to close at Rs 6,177 per quintal in futures market today as speculators reduced their exposure, driven by easing demand in the spot market against adequate stocks.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in September moved down by Rs 157, or 2.48 per cent, to close at Rs 6,177 per quintal with an open interest of 11,160 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in October contract traded lower by Rs 100, or 1.59 per cent, to end at Rs 6,178 per quintal with an open interest of 32,530 lots.

Market analysts said cutting down of positions by traders owing to subdued demand in the physical market against enough stock position primarily led to the decline in the chana prices.
