Chana prices shot up by another 1.32 per cent to Rs 4,436 per quintal in futures trading today, extending its rising streak following rising demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in far-month April contracts climbed Rs 58 or 1.32 per cent to Rs 4,436 per quintal with an open interest of 17,720 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in January contracts traded higher by Rs 52 or 1.10 per cent to Rs 4,769 per quintal in 14,100 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices to upsurge in demand in the spot market but hopes of pick up in supplies from following recent raids by the authorities on pulses hoarders capped the rise.
