Chana prices rose by 1.20 per cent to Rs 3,131 per quintal in futures trade today after participants enlarged holdings on good demand in spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for January delivery rose by Rs 37, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 3,131 per quintal, with an open interest for 1,08,920 lots.

Similarly, chana for delivery in December was up by Rs 35, or 1.17 per cent, to Rs 3,037 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,140 lots.

Traders said the rise in chana prices at futures trade was mostly supported by rising demand in spot markets and holding back of stocks by speculators.

Besides, restricted arrivals from producing regions influenced chana prices.
