Chana prices fell 1.43 per cent to Rs 5,025 per quintal in futures trade today on profit- booking by speculators amid increased supplies from major producing states.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for October declined Rs 73, or 1.43 per cent, to Rs 5,025 per quintal, with an open interest of 590 lots.

Similarly, chana for November delivery was trading lower by Rs 26, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 5,106 per quintal, with an open interest of 66,480 lots.

Traders said besides profit-booking by speculators, increased supplies and subdued demand in the spot market at existing higher levels, mainly led to the fall in chana prices at futures trade.
