Chandrababu, Jagan congratulate President-elect Kovind

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and leader of opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today congratulated Ram Nath Kovind on his election as the 14th President of India.

"I am very happy that the candidate I proposed has been elected the President. Hailing from a lower class, Kovind rose to the highest post of the country," Chandrababu said in a message.

"Best wishes to the Hon Sri Ram Nath Kovind Garu, President of India. May the Indian democracy thrive under his able leadership," the Chief Minister tweeted.

Jagan expressed happiness over the election of Kovind as President and said "with his rich experience in public life he would certainly embellish the highest constitutional post."
 

Known for his high morals and values, he would continue the lineage of stalwarts, who served the office with agility and statesmanship, the YSRC president added.

Kovind, the ruling NDA coalition's candidate, was today elected as India's 14th President with an overwhelming majority of votes from the country's lawmakers.
