The city police have claimed to have busted an inter-state gang with the arrest of four persons last week.

Addressing a press conference, superintendent of police Sandeep Diwan today said a police patrol party came upon four persons at a Dhaba in Padoli area on the night of September 10 and finding their movements suspicious, questioned them.

Upon search, the police found steel 'tommy-bar', a large screw driver, an adjustable spanner and other tools which are typically used by the criminals for house-breaking and robbery.

"On interrogation, the gang leader Khadak Singh Gunga Alawa (35), resident of Barad under Tanda police station limits in Madhya Pradesh, and his three accomplices confessed to various crimes," said Diwan.

The gang was involved several house-breakings, robberies, vehicle thefts, etc., he said.

The four were also involved in the theft at a jewellery shop at Chimur in the district, the SP said.

Jewellery worth Rs 6,46,000 and two bikes were recovered from their possession.

"It is indeed a major breakthrough as the gang used to operate in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat, as per their confessions. We are investigating the matter and sure of getting some more leads to their crimes," Diwan said.
