Chandy gives away annual media awards

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today gave away annul Media Awards for 2014 to five journalists at a function in the Calicut Press Club here today.

"The importance of the awards is that they are an appreciation for their hard works and efforts", Chandy said congratulating the awardees at the function.

The awards instituted by the Calicut Press Club carry a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation.

The poposal for land allottment to a Journalism Institute here is under the active consideration of the government, Chandy said in reply to a plea made by the members of the Calicut Press Club.
 

K C Mathava Kuroop award for general reporting was presented to Mathrubhumi daily's Kannur staff reporter Biju Paravath.

P Unnikrishnan (former General Manager of PTI) award for television story given away to Calicut Malayala Manorama's news reporter Nikhil Davis.

Theruvath Raman award for best layout presented to Abdul Jaleel of Thejas newspaper, Vadakkathara.

Calicut District Football Association's Mustaq Sports Journalism award has been presented to Malayala Manorama Malappuram reporter, Jomichan Jose and Sports Newsphoto award to Madhyamam daily's Prakash Karimba in Kozhikode.
