The posters accused him of being responsible for the delay in reconstitution of KPCC and DCCs and criticised his "ambivalent" stand on Nelliyampathy estate cases to help its owners who had been holding on to the property even after their lease period had expired.
"If anybody had complaints over my stand on the issue, they could have told me directly.I would have tried to resolve it," he told reporters.
Chandy said Nelliyampathy matter was now before the UDF sub-committee and a decision would be taken after discussions.
On the open verbal spat between a section of congress MLAs and KPCC Spokesman M M Hassan, he said Congress was a big party."I do not believe in imposing control on any person. It is for them to decide whether they should have self-control," he said.
Nelliyampathy estate issue has snowballed into a major crisis for Congress and ruling UDF with section of congress MLAs coming out openly in favour of taking over the estates holding that they are part of reserve forests.
State Forest Minister K B Ganeshkumar had even sought a CBI probe into the various violations of lease conditions carried out by estate owners, a stand supported by a section of Congress MLAs who claim that they stand for 'green politics'.
However,the issue turned into a controversy when State Chief Whip P C George, a nominee of Kerala Congress (M), and Hassan came out against the stand of Congress MLAs. Hassan termed the move of the MLAs as "greedy politcs and not green politics."
