Chandy's dig at 'silence' of intelligentsia over murder

"It is surprising that cultural leaders in Kerala are silent on this most inhuman act. In Kerala cultural personalities raise their voices even for small incidents", Chandy said during the weekly cabinet briefing here.

"You know better", he quipped when reporters asked if he thought that the intellectual class was afraid of incurring the wrath of CPI(M) on this issue.

Leading Bengali writer Mahasweta Devi had last week called on Chandrasekharan's wife and family members at Onjiyam in Kozhikode district.

During the visit, she had urged cultural leaders of Kerala to come out and condemn the killing of the RMP leader, for which the CPI(M) in the state is under shadow of suspicion.
