Stressing on the importance of community policing, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police S P Vaid today said the force needs to change its attitude at grassroots level.
Addressing a senior police officers' meeting at Police Headquarters here, he said there is a need to bring visible changes in the working of the state police.
"Without people's help we cannot imagine successful policing and the police will have to change its attitude at grassroots level," he said.

At 'thana' level our personnel have a vital role to play in reshaping our work culture, the DGP said.
He said in the recent years well qualified and talented youths have joined the force and the organisation, using their capabilities will improve its working.
We should be more sympathetic towards the aggrieved and a good atmosphere needs to be created in police stations, where people can come without any fear to register their complaints, the state police chief said.
He explained that like any other government servant, a policeman also gets his salary from the tax collected from the public and hence the personnel is supposed to behave in a manner that does not hurt a common man.
