Punjab Congress Legislature Party leader Charanjit Singh Channi today announced to build a "memorial" for two persons who were allegedly killed in police firing in Behbal Kalan in Faridkot last year.

He said he will meet the families of both the persons tomorrow.

Channi vowed to "reopen" the Behbal Kalan firing case if Congress forms the government in 2017 and accused Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal of "shielding the culprits".

Terming his cycle yatra a "big success", he said it got a "massive response" from the locals and Congress leaders, especially the youth.

The 'Jawani Sambhal' yatra today reached Bhatinda district and stayed in Goniana. It will finish at Takht Sri Dam Dama Sahib In Talwandi Sabo.

He also slammed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for the alleged "failure" in making adequate arrangements for procurement of the paddy crop.

"This is one government that has always failed during every procurement season, be it for wheat, paddy or cotton. What is more intriguing is that the irritants are the same during every procurement season and the arrangements have to be the same," he said.
