Actor Channing Tatum has been confirmed to star in a South American crime thriller "Triple Frontier".

"Mad Max: Fury Road" star Tom Hardy, who was earlier in talks to join the Paramount project alongside Tatum, 36, is still in negotiations to enter the final stages, reported Variety.

This is a major breakthrough for the film, since it was announced in 2009 that Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal had begun working on the project.

But, Bigelow had abandoned the project in the capacity of a director. He was replaced by JC Chandor.

Although, Boal continues to be on board both, as writer and producer for the film.
