Chaotic fashion week at Kolkata comes to an end

Although it was earlier announced that Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra would do the grand finale last night, Bangalore-based designer Manoviraj Khosla's show turned out to be the first and the last one on the closing day.

Due to differences with the designers, the remaining shows were cancelled yesterday. Even on the inaugural day of the four-day affair, two or three shows were cancelled.

No buyers turned out at the fashion week which led to some exhibitors protesting at the venue on Saturday.

The organisers were forced to refund the money and close down the stalls.

The participation of some of the well-known city-based designers like Abhishek Dutta and Monapali, however, saved the face of the organisers.

 

But during Dutta's show a city-based cinematographer walked the ramp uninvited alongside actress Rituparna Sengupta leaving everybody, including the cine star, shocked.

Besides actress Raima Sen, hardly anyone from Bollywood joined in as showstopper affecting the glam quotient of the event. (MORE)
