Char dham Yatra to conclude on Nov 17

Doors of the famous Badrinath temple in Garhwal Himalayas will be closed for winters on Tuseday.

The portals of the shrine situated 10,000 feet above sea level in Chamoli district will be closed at 4:35 AM on November 17, sources said.

The other shrines- Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri- which are part of Char Dham Yatra have already closed their doors due to the onset of winters.

Gangotri temple in Uttarkashi district closed on November 12 and Kedarnath temple in Rudraprayag district and Yamunotri temple closed November 13 on the festival of 'Bhai Dooj'.

After the closure ceremony, the idols of God and Goddess are carried in palanquins to be worshipped during her winter sojourn.
 

The winter abode to Lord Badrinath is at Joshirmath, Godess Ganga will be worshiped at nearby Mukhba village, Yamuna at Kharsali and Kedarnath at Ukhimath.
