Charcoal Eats raises Rs 5 cr in pre-series A round

Quick service restaurant (QSR) startup Charcoal Eats has raised Rs 5 crore from high networth individual (HNI) investors in pre-series A funding round.

The investors are Rajesh Ramanathan, head global growth, Mondelez; Kush Verma of Asoka Capital, Sanjay Bhandarkar of Rothschild, Amit Gupta of New Quest Capital Partners, Vishesh Shrivastav of Temasek, Sachin Khivasara of Bouyant Capital, among others, the company said in a release.

With this, the total funds raised by the company has gone up to Rs 12 crore.

Charcoal Eats currently operates 22 outlets across six Indian cities and is targeting to have over 60 outlets across 10 cities by December, according to the release.

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo today said he has partnered with Graphic India and VMS Communications to create and launch a new character entertainment property, Striker Force 7, across animation, comics, publishing, gaming and digital content.

Graphic India is a Bengaluru-based character entertainment company, while Miami-based VMS Communications is a mobile digital marketing and content management company.

"I have always been a fan of superheroes and I am thrilled to help to create this new animated series," Ronaldo was quoted as saying in a release.

The product is designed to make travel insurance highly customisable, convenient and comprehensive for diverse customer segments leisure travellers, business travellers, senior citizens and students, the company said in a release.

***************** IHCL to add 220 guest rooms in Taj Bangalore *

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) today said it is adding 220 guest rooms along with other facilities to Taj Bangalore.

The hotel was launched in December 2015, and has 154 rooms at present.

"With a total of 374 keys and conferencing and banqueting facilities, we are certain that the hotel will establish a strong presence in Bangalore market," said Puneet Chhatwal, managing director and chief executive officer, IHCL.

IHCL has eight hotels in Bangalore across all its brands at present.
