Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Jain framed charges against Yogender Singh Bhokta alias Soren under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for being involved in furthering the activities of the banned outfit.
"Perusal of charge sheet reveals that there are sufficient evidence to make out a prima facie case against the accused for offences punishable under section 18/20 UAPA to which accused plead not guilty and claim trial," the court said.
Yogender was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on May 3, 2009 from Badarpur area here on a tip off from Jharkhand police that he was hiding in Delhi.
Yogender was arrested along with his associates Satish and Sheetal, who are being tried separately.
Police had said Yogender had disclosed during his interrogation that he was involved in several attacks on the police teams and on rival naxal groups in Jharkhand.
He had also disclosed that during the year 2007, he sustained bullet injury on his left thigh in an shootout with a rival Maoist group and was undergoing treatment at a hospital here under a fake identity of Shiv Kumar, police had said.
He had also allegedly revealed that he was lying low in Delhi for treatment of his gunshot wound and simultaneously organising and operating his terrorist group from this hideout.
