Controversial Kerala legislator P C George has been chargesheeted for allegedly manhandling a staff of the MLAs hostel canteen here last year for the delay in bringing his lunch.

The museum police said a case under various IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 294 (obscene acts or words) had been registered against him for the offence.

The chargesheet has been filed before the Judicial First Class Magistrate court here.

George courted trouble after Manu (22), a staff at the canteen, came out with an allegation that he was beaten up by the legislator and his personal assistant, apparently annoyed over delay in serving food.

However, the MLA, a former government whip and ex-member of Kerala Congress (M), had denied the allegation.

Manu had alleged that he was slapped and suffered injury on an eye and lips.

George's stand was that he only scolded the complainant for bringing the food very late.
