Singers Charlie Puth and Lionel Richie are being eyed for "American Idol" and are reportedly in "advanced talks" with the show bosses.

The ABC revival of the long-running Fox talent competition - which came to an end on the network in 2016 - might be close to rounding out its judging panel.

If the pair do come on board, they will be joining Katy Perry as the only confirmed judge so far, reported Variety.

Show bosses are reportedly also eyeing country singers Luke Bryan and Keith Urban, and are considering expanding the panel - which has traditionally been comprised of three judges - to feature an extra judge.

Meanwhile, Ryan Seacrest - who hosted the show during its run on Fox from 2002 to 2016 - will be returning to the re- boot.
