Actor Charlie Sheen says his "manic behaviour" was due to his struggle with drinking, deep substance abuse and partying.

Sheen, 50, said he never behaves awkwardly when in senses, reported People magazine.

"Manic behaviour is usually in the throes of deep partying. Deep substance abuse and drinking. It doesn't really happen when I'm not doing that.

"It has never really reared its head. It's interesting how I answered that question. I've been 'described' or 'diagnosed' by enough people that I guess at some point you have to take a look at it if it keeps walking like a duck," he said.

The actor made the revelation on Dr Mehmet Oz show.
