Iconic Hollywood actor Charlton Heston was recently honoured with his own postage stamp.

The late actor, who starred in 'Ben Hur' and the original 'Planet of the Apes', got his own stamp in a special ceremony held at the historic Chinese Theatre in LA, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The stamp image of Heston, 84, is a painting taken from a photo which was shot by his widow, Lydia Clarke Heston who also attended the ceremony.

Heston's publicist Michael Levine, who had launched the effort to put Heston's image on a stamp was also at the event.

"Heston was an extraordinary guy, not just an extraordinary actor. He was a very unique man," Levine said.

Heston is the 18th stamp in the Legends of Hollywood series from the US Postal Service. Earlier ones included John Wayne, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Peck, Gary Cooper and Lucille Ball.
